Fazal Din’s Pharma Plus (FDPP) stands for over a century of quality and care, from humble beginnings in Dalhousie, Kashmir, to a renowned pharmacy chain in Punjab, Pakistan. Founded in 1947, it blossomed over three generations, becoming one of Punjab’s largest pharmacy chains. Led by visionary Taimur Mumtaz, educated at Lahore’s Aitchison College Lahore and the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in Philadelphia, USA, Taimur joined the family business in 1995 and was responsible for the retail chain pharmacy project — Fazal Din’s Pharma Plus.

The Problem

Scattered Employee Records & Lack of Employee Self-Service

Prior to implementing a digital HR system, FDPP recognized an opportunity to enhance its HR practices. Here’s how:

1. Fragmented Employee Records: FDPP previously utilized various in-house systems, including spreadsheets, for different HR functions. This made it challenging to maintain consistent and readily accessible employee data. By moving towards a centralized HR system, FDPP aimed to achieve data accuracy and improve accessibility for all stakeholders.

2. Employee Self-Service: Tasks like accessing payslips required manual requests and generation by the HR team. This burdened the team with time-consuming processes and limited employee self-service capabilities. By digitizing the system, FDPP aimed to empower employees with convenient self-service options, allowing them to access information quickly and efficiently.

The Solution

Simplified, & All-In-One HR Solution

FDPP previously relied on a manual HR and Payroll process, requiring CSV exports and spreadsheet management. This data sprawl limited functionality and slowed down workflows. Paismo HR streamlined the process in three key steps, empowering FDPP with a more efficient system.

1. Streamlined Employee Data: Prioritizing the scattered data, the Paismo HR technical team adopted a “one step at a time” approach to ensure a smooth transition. They prioritized consolidating data into one reliable, centralized source before introducing other exciting HR features.

2. Implementation: Paismo HR’s data analysts and problem solvers collaborated with different FDPP departments to gather information on active and inactive employees. After thorough validation, all employee profiles were uploaded to the user-friendly “Employee Manager” tool within Paismo HR, empowering employees with self-service capabilities. Additionally, timesheet data from the previous year was seamlessly linked to generate a comprehensive “Historical Payroll Records” section. Department heads were granted logins, enabling them to upload timesheets or manage clock-in locations directly through the Paismo HR mobile app.

3. Testing & Training: Paismo HR’s intuitive user interface (UI) and simple navigation minimized the need for extensive training. For additional reassurance, parallel payroll processing was conducted using Paismo HR and the existing manual system. This allowed for swift identification and rectification of minor discrepancies, ensuring a smooth and accurate payroll run using the new system.
